Abstrakt EN:

The paper deals with the problem of unemployment in the provinces of Cracow and Suwalki in the years 1990-1995. In spite of the differences in social and economic development, in numbers and indices related to unemployment, certain problems are common, namely high percentage of women, young people and those with low education among the unemployed. The methods of combating the unemployment in those provinces can be similar as regards the development of the small enterprise system, i.e. hotel, recreation, tourist, and catering services.
