abstrakt angielski In this chapter, the main characteristics of sustainable consumption are discussed from the point of view of the national economy and the state. Special attention is devoted to the following thematic areas: the prevention and minimisation of the amount of municipal waste; the reduction of food waste; educational activities, the sharing economy in the area of mobility; and the use of renewable energy sources and energy saving. This chapter presents existing and proposed metrics and indicators allowing for the analysis of the effectiveness of changes in the area of a country's transition to the circular economy and the impact of the circular economy on socio-economic development at a mesoeconomic (regions) and macroeconomic (national economy) level. The indicators presented in this chapter are the result of comparative analyses with CE implementation strategies in many countries of the world and serve as guidelines for the analysis of the dynamics of the effectiveness of implementation of the principles of sustainable consumption in the national economy. This area of the CE is particularly important, given the key role of the consumer in the CE. At the same time, the indicators presented may be used as practical pointers by local government authorities, local leaders, or managers of companies playing a key role in the development of the national economy regarding the directions to be taken in activities to promote the CE.
