Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie niektórych elementów konkurencyjności gospodarki polskiej w świetle wymiany międzynarodowej. Początkowa część skupia się na teoretycznych aspektach tematu i prezentuje definicje pojęcia konkurencyjności. Następnie omówiono miary międzynarodowej pozycji konkurencyjnej. Część końcową stanowi analiza międzynarodowej pozycji konkurencyjnej Polski. (fragment tekstu)

Abstrakt EN:

To a large extent, an economy's competitiveness is determined by its capacity for development in the context of an open economy, and the level of competitiveness is, above all, the economy's general condition compared to other countries. In this study, the author analyses the competitiveness of the Polish economy on the basis of its foreign trade performance in the years 1995-2004. The aim of the work is to present and assess certain elements of the Polish economy's competitiveness in the light of international trade. The first section reviews the theoretical aspects of the subject; in the second section, the author presents the concept of competitiveness and then discusses the various measures of international competitive position. In the final section, the author analyses Poland's international competitive position. The challenge posed by Poland's membership in the European Union requires the elimination, or a least the reduction, of the main barriers to the competitiveness of the Polish economy. The competitive position that Polish companies manage to forge for themselves on the EU market will depend on their future economic performance and development prospects. (original abstract)
